Colombian star signs for Arsenal

After the sale of Łukasz Fabiański, Arsenal have now reinforced their goal keeping options.

The Colombian shot stopper have joined the Gunners on a long term contract, from French Ligue 1 side Nice.

Over a six year spell he has made 189 appearances with Nice. Ospina is the first choice goalkeeper for his National side, since making his debut in 2007, coming on as a substitute in the Kirin Cup against Uruguay.

Having had a fine form in the World Cup, helping his side to reach the quarter finals. The arrival of Ospina will provide a healthy competition for current first choice keeper Wojciech Szczęsny.

Manager Arsène Wenger gave his notion on Ospina's arrival. "David Ospina is an excellent goalkeeper, with good experience and a proven record of performing with Nice and Colombia.

"He will add strength to our squad and we are very pleased that he will be joining us."

Nice manger Claude Puel told the Arsenal fans what to expect from their new man. "It's a good affair for Arsenal because he's a very good player. You will see next season the quality of this player.

"It's fantastic for him. It's important for him to try another league, another club and Arsenal is a fantastic club for him.

"David Ospina can take the goalkeeping position at Arsenal because his qualities are very strong and... 'magnifique'. You saw in the World Cup how important a goalkeeper he is.

"For me, David can impose his quality, he's a goalkeeper who is very good with the feet, with his arms, he knows football and he's a very, very good player."

Chambers signs for Arsenal

Arsenal FC have today completed the signing of Calum Chambers, from Southampton.

Chambers is the third Southampton player to have signed for Arsenal, under Arsène Wenger.

The 19 year old has signed a long term contract with the Gunners, for an undisclosed fee.

Is Chambers Value for money?
Premier League experience,Chambers made his first team debut for Southampton, on August 17th 2013, of which he then went on to making 22 appearances.

Versatile Able to play as a right back, centre back or in central midfield.

Leadership- Chambers is currently the captain of the England U19s.

This signing present itself with a long term gratification. Speaking at a recent interview manager Arsène Wenger had this to sa“He can play at centre-back, right-back and central midfield,”.“I hope he will give us competition for the players in this three positions. He hasn’t played many games, no, but the English players on the market in England are very expensive and at the end of the day I was ready to take a gamble because he is a player for the future.”

Speaking with Arsenal.Com Arsène revealed his take on his new signing. Wenger said "We are very pleased that Calum has agreed to join us. The way he adapted to the Premier League last season with Southampton at a young age shows that he has tremendous quality. He has a lot of the attributes that we look for in a young player and I am sure that he will do well with us.”

"I am so happy to be signing for Arsenal. They are a team I have much admired for their playing style, and a team who have been one of the top sides in Europe for many years. I'm looking forward to joining up with my new team-mates today and beginning preparation for the season ahead.Chambers said.

The Gunners close in on Chambers

Southampton's gifted teenager looks set to sign for the Gunners.

As reported by The Telegraph"Arsenal have stepped up their bid to sign Southampton teenager Calum Chambers and are increasingly confident they can land him". This report comes in after months of on going speculations, in regards to the young Englishman's future.

Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw and Rickie Lambert. Each played a crucial role for The Saints last season, however all three have sinced departed from St.Mary's. The Saints are in a firm financial stance, and should be in no rush to sell another star player. However according to reports The Gunners are willing to pay "over £10 million to land 19-year-old Chambers".

Amy Lewis of Sky Sports also confirmed details of the deal, as posted from her official twitter account "I'm being told Arsenal have offered around £15m for Calum Chambers and that the deal will happen. #AFC #saintsfc”followed by "Chambers, we're told, near completion but not done yet. Fee above £10m, told £15m by one source. How many more players will leave Saints....”

There have been talks of Jenkinson swapping the Emirates for Upton Park, with The Hammers showing increasing interest of a possible loan or permanent deal. The signing of Chambers would suggest that he would be the back up right back to new signing Debuchy.

Thomas Vermaelen is rumoured to be joining Machester United, the Red Devils have indicated that they would be keen to sign the Arsenal skipper, as it stands Vermaelen isn't gauranteed first team football, so he may be tempted to sign for Louis Van Gaal. However it is also reported by The Metro "Barcelona are said to be weighing up a bid for the Belgian, aware that they will likely have to outbid Manchester United and offer the player something more than he can get at the Old Trafford side".

Vermaelen's time at Arsenal is seemingly coming to an end. The talks of his departure suggest that Arsène may be looking to play Chambers as a Centre Back.  A role that Chambers should be capable of adapting to, if he is drilled and coach correctly.

Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, both signed for Arsenal after breaking through the Southampton academy. Will it be third time lucky for the Gunners.

French International becomes a Gunner

Fresh off the signing of Alexis Sánchez, last week welcomed the signing of Mathieu Debuchy.

The 28 Year old has signed for the Gunners, in a £12m deal from Newcastle. The French International is Arsenal second major summer signing. Debuchy will go into a team that has a strong backline, with Mertesacker, Gibbs and Koscielny.

Arsenal's official twitter account broke the news "It's official – Mathieu Debuchy has signed for @Arsenal!"

Debuchy told Arsenal.com "Debuchy told arsenal.com: "I'm very proud to be joining a great club like Arsenal and to wear its colours, it's one of the biggest clubs in the whole world.

"I'm looking forward to working with Arsene Wenger and to helping the team build on last season's FA Cup success. Playing again in the Champions League is a big excitement for me and I will do my best to help Arsenal compete for trophies."

Arsenal's manager Arsène Wenger added "We are delighted to welcome Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal Football Club.

"He has shown he can perform at the highest level with his club sides and also for France. He is a quality defender who has good Premier League experience and I'm confident he will fit in very well with us."

Arsenal are still in the market for a DM, and a Goalkeeper, however the possibility of a striker looks unlikely. According to Arsène Wenger "Up front we don't need any more, maybe I will still bring in one centre-back. I will bring in a goalkeeper for sure and we are still out there to strengthen our squad".

Alex(is)a Gunner

Arsenal FC have signed the Chilean from former club FC Barcelona. After months of on going speculations Sánchez is finally a Gunner.

The £30m man is officially Arsenal's second most expensive player, behind last summer's transfer signing of Mesut Özil. According to The Guarding Sánchez "has signed a long-term contract believed to be for five years".

As reported back in May,Arsenal were looking at the possibility of bringing Sánchez to the Emirates, in a deal that would happen before or after the World Cup. The Chilean turn down offers from Liverpool and as expected Juventus also tried to seal a deal, but in the end the Chile International chose Arsenal.

Sánchez signs

Arsène had this to say "As many people have seen during the World Cup this summer, Alexis is a fantastic footballer and we are delighted that he is joining us at Arsenal Football Club".

"Alexis will add power, creativity and much quality to our squad and we are all looking forward to him joining up with us in a few weeks. He has consistently produced top-quality performances at the highest level for a number of seasons now and we are all excited to see him integrate into the Arsenal squad. I’m sure all Arsenal supporters will join me in welcoming Alexis to our club."

Sánchez added "I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal, a club which has a great manager, a fantastic squad of players, huge support around the world and a great stadium in London. I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to be playing for Arsenal in the Premier League and Champions League. I will give my best to Arsenal and want to make all the supporters happy."

Sánchez is only the start of more to come, for once Arsenal are getting the deals done early. The new Puma kits together with a remarkable signing, brings forth a new ERA for the Gunners. It is safe to say that this is exciting times for the Arsenal fans.

Arsène eyeing Debuchy

Arsène Wenger is said to be eyeing a deal worth £11m for the Toon Right Back Mathieu Debuchy.

With the departure of Bacary Sagna, Arsenal are in need of a first choice Right Back. Speculations from numerous sources, are indicating that Debuchy is set to become Sagna's successor. One  would have thought that the Right Back position would have already been finalized, with Ivory Coast exiting the World Cup at the group stages, Arsenal fans were expecting a done deal announcement for the signing of Serge Aurier. Much of Arsenal's Right Back talks and rumors has been solely about the Côte d'Ivoire Star. That now looks likely to change.

Debuchy is on a fine World Cup form for Les Bleus, and is Didier Deschamps preferred choice at Right Back, with the ex Arsenal man Sagna waiting behind him.

In comparison to Aurier, Debuchy is somewhat of a safer buy. Having joined Newcastle in the 2013 January transfer window, he has much more premier league experience, to that of Aurier, he has highlighted that he is well able to perform on the biggest of stages. At 28 Years old he is going into the prime of his career, performing well in under two years of being in the Premier League, as well as establishing himself into the French International team, he is proving that he is fearful of nothing. For the Les Bleus at the World Cup he has showcased his competence, he is able to track froward and make the desired runs, as well as having the much needed capabilities to cover his defensive duties.

On the other hand Aurier looks like the more exciting of the two. He is young and bursting with talent, in a game against Japan, he illustrated just what he is capable of. Assisting two of the Ivory Coast goals, many of whom hadn't seen Aurier play prior to that game, caught glimpses of his artful athleticism. Debuchy may not have the same athletic qualities compared to Aurier, but in terms of defensive priorities he can be easily compared to Sagna.

With Premier league experience on his side, Debuchy is the safer buy. Further more he is also capable of going forward without leaving the defense completely open for the opposition. In addition to the Right Back options, Aurier is inexperienced for the Premier league, his performance at the World Cup may well have inflated his previous pricetag. If Arsenal did not reach an agreement between Toulouse before the start of the World Cup, they may be asked to pay more than then initially wanted to.

Would Debuch favour a move?

In an interview with the Evening Chronicle, Debuchy had this to say. “Personally, it’s a great adventure. I have discovered English charm, which is very hard, Newcastle and their extraordinary fans. It’s really incredible to play in that atmosphere. Having said that, I miss European football and the Champions League in particular. For the moment, I’m concentrating on the World Cup. We’ll see about the rest afterwards.”

Arsenal have yet to confirm their place in next season Champions  League. But Arsène Wenger has never failed to take his team to the group stages. Although they have yet to win the competition, they have played in every Champions League fixtures, for the last 16 Years and counting.

Being a fellow Countryman, with a successful C.V and the prospect of offering Champions League. Wenger should be more than able to bring Debuchy to the Emirates.

Vela set to Return

Carlos Vela will be playing for the Gunners next season, says Real Sociedad president. Arsenal will be looking to activate a release-clause, which was tied into Vela's contract agreement before he made the switch to the Spanish club in 2012.

The young Mexian joined the Gunners at age 16 in 2005, but he was unable to make an immediate impact, most of the issues in regards to him breaking into the starting eleven, circled around his work permit, being a Non-EU Citizen made it impossible for him to play in England.

Vela's career
Early 2006- loaned out to Celta de Vigo, with 0 gameplay he was immediately returned to Arsenal.

2006-07- loaned out to Salamanca- made huge contribution to their season, racking up a tally of  8 goals, Vela contributed well to their 53 goals for the season.

2007-08- loaned out to Osasuna, making 33 appearances, and scoring 3 goals.

2008- work permit was finally granted, now Vela was eligible to play for his parent club Arsenal.

2010-11- loaned out to West Brom, making an unfortunate 8 appearances and scoring just 2 goals.

2011-12- loaned out Real Sociedad, capped the most appearance of his career at the time, completing a total of 35 appearance, and scoring and a new career best 12 goals.

2012, after spending over 7 seasons with Arsenal, the uncertainty of being apart of the starting 11.    Urged Vela to make a tough decision. And in early 2012 Vela had this to say "I don't want to return to Arsenal. I have asked my agent to negotiate with Arsenal to stay here."And so in the summer of 2012, Vela transfer to Real Sociedad was made permanent.

All seems to be going well for Vela making 43 appearnces for his current club, in addition to 12 assists, and netting 17 goals. In January 2014 he won the La Liga Player of the Month award for December. Hence why Arsenal are looking to bring him back, as he would certainly contribute to well to the team.

The possibility of a return does look likely to happen. Arsenal will no doubt add to their strike force, the pricetage for his return is one that is suitable value for money. In May Vela was asked about the likelihood of an Arsenal return, of which he had this to say. "Arsenal can come back for me at €4 million (£3.3m) at any time, which is €1 million more than Real Sociedad paid. I look at things differently these days and I won’t close the door on Arsenal, or any team in England. I think I’m better prepared to play in another country now."

Nothing seems to be concrete for the time being, after all Vela is the FIFTH! striker to be linked as a possible signing for the Gunners. Jokin Aperribay does seem to be toying with us. Speaking at radio station Jokin had this to say.Arsenal have informed us that Vela would be with them next season.” In a separate interview he was quoted as saying. "We are fortunate that the player is keen to stay in San Sebastian with us and that's an important factor for Real Sociedad." Vela is not apart of Mexico's 23 man World Cup squad, if the information from Jokin is said to be authentic. Then any possible deal between Real Sociedad and Arsenal will be concluded swiftly.

Milan departure for Balotelli

After months of racist agony, Balotellii  is reportedly set to bring an early end to his contract with A.C. Milan.

It is early days in the transfer window, but Arsenal are being linked with some rather interesting names. This time around it is the problematic man himself Mario Balotelli, this is somewhat of a surprising rumour, Arsenal looks like a side that has respect and togetherness for each other both on and off the pitch, they look almost like a family enjoying their football, so the Balotelli rumour does come across as bring slightly improper. But according to The Independent "Arsène Wenger believes he can tame Mario Balotelli". Now the big question is can Arsène truly tame Balotelli, I believe the answer to that is a simple YES, although it may take some hard work, nothing is impossible that includes turning Balotelli into a well behaved player. Arsenal may not have any troublesome players currently within the team, but the past speaks differently. And the man who transformed those bad boys was Arsène himself.

Reports are indicating that Balotelli is Arsenal's first priority, in terms of signing a top class striker.  To much of his unsettlement Milan are said to be looking to sell Balotelli. Other than Arsenal Liverpool are said to be showing interest. However Arsenal may beat them to the all important signature, considering unlike Liverpool they are truly in desperate need for a top striker.

The new Puma contract may play a huge part in wrapping up this deal. Both Arsène and Puma should be able to persuade Balotelli to sign. Arsène will be able to guarantee first team football for the Italian, where as if needed Puma could boost his sponsorship deal, making him one of their most paid value for money footballer. If his attitude is to change then there is no doubt Balotelli will be worth far more than his current pricetag, which would be great news for Puma. If he does sign for Arsenal that will be another bonus for Puma, as he would sell a huge amount of shirts for Arsenal. As reported by The Independent Arsenal "are said to be readying a £20m deal to bring Balotelli to the Emirates."

Arsenal's most troublesome players
Robin Van Persie- 2004 RVP completed his transfer from Feyenoord to Arsenal. In the 2004-05 season he  was sent off for the first time, in a game against Southampton. From that game Arsène had this to say "I do not support Van Persie today, but he did not look out of control at half-time. When the referee has sent off a home player, he is under pressure, so, if any player had to behave, it was him."Van Persie came to Arsenal with a huge chip on his back, on arrival his was classed as being hot tempered with a vile attitude. Although he was plagued by injuries he went on to making 194 appearances scoring 96 goals. Sportswriter Clive White label RVP as being "21 going on 9". To the World he is now view as a World class striker, many people rarely speak off his bad boy image, he is now a mentor to young and upcoming talents.

Patrick Vieira- During is time at Arsenal he managed to pick up the most red cards, compared to any other player. He brought with him aggression fitting for his role in midfield, but not inside the tunnel. Who can forget the days where a game between Arsenal and Manchester United brought with it a fight, Vieira is still known for his buss up with the United players, especially with his old foe Roy Keane. Faced with ordered punishments Vieira went on to captaining Arsenal to victories, of which came with trophies, and the unforgettable Invincibles.

Tony Adams- Mr Arsenal himself, one of Arsenal's finest captain and a hero to the fans, his 19 Year spell with Arsenal brought with it triumphs and lifting numerous trophies. On the other hand his career also came with a difficult alcohol addiction. Adams had spent time in Chelmsford prison for drink driving, his hostile behaviour landed him in trouble with referees. But he went on to twice winning the double for the league and the cup. Tony Adams once said "Play for the name on the front of the shirt, and they’ll remember the name on the back." He now has his very own statue outside the Emirates.

Each of these players were all managed by Arsène Wenger, Arsène may not be the sole reasons behind they're change in behaviour, however much of the credit belongs to him. He has and always will be a father figure to his players, a man who on arrival to Arsenal was unknown to many, but he has without any doubt made a name for himself, a name that is well respected throughout Football.

Rémy Fee Agreed?

The summer transfer window is up and running,  and Arsenal look set to make their first signing.

Arsenal have reportedly agreed personal terms for QPR and the French International striker Loïc Rémy. Much of the speculations surrounding Rémy to Arsenal began at their last home game of the season. The game against West Brom brought with it a surprising but welcoming spectator, Yes Rémy himself watched the game from the directors box, as Arsenal ended their final home game with a 1-0 score line.

Rémy has made himself hot property for the transfer window, having spent a season on loan at Newcastle, making 26 appearances and scoring 14 goals.  He has caught the eye of some of the Premier League top clubs. According to The Daily Star "Remy had been on Liverpool and Tottenham's radar". But being a lifelong Arsenal fan gave the Gunners the extra edge to make the signing.

The French International has previously hinted in the past that a return to QPR is fairly unlikely, and although they have won promotion back to the Premier League, that alone may not be enough to tempt him to stay. In an April interview Rémy stated “I want to join a great European club, to play at the highest level". Fast forward a few weeks later where he was spotted at the Emirates, this doesn't prove that he has signed for Arsenal. But with the departure of Bendtner Arsenal are short of a striker, so the reports in regards to a fee agreement may well be true.

On a previous post I mentioned my brief admiration for Giroud, as formerly mentioned Giroud is indeed a complementary striker, and with the right strike partnership his dexterity will shine through. That partnership may come in the form of Giroud and Remy

So far their pairing for Les Bleus is impressive. The hold up play from Giroud seems to be working well for his International side.

What does Rémy offer ?
Premier League Experience
Demonstrated that he is able to score goals (14 goal tally for Newcastle)
International World Cup watch ( brilliant link up play with Giroud)
27 Years old showing his best ever form (ideally this would work well for Arsenal) in regards to his age Arsenal do not need another young striker, as they already have Sanogo, Campbell and Afobe in their ranks.

Rémy has a positive attitude. Any club would be grateful to have him in their team, he believes in himself and is constantly trying to improve. In an interview in March he commented  on his performance with the Magpies he said. "I can still be much better, I have a huge margin. I have 13 goals in the Premier League so far, but I could have scored more. I am never satisfied with what I have got. I could have scored 15 or 16". When asked about the possibility of him going to the World Cup he said, There is no choice, I have to go there. I already missed Euro 2012 though injury and it was so difficult to swallow,".

This is the type of player that Arsenal need someone who is hungry to willing do more, sometimes it isn't all about signing a big name player. The likes of Benzema is a name that has been linked with a
move to Arsenal. But that potential deal may hinder the possibility of Giroud being a regular starter. Some are unsure as to whether Benzema and Giroud would make a good pairing. Reason being is because they are somewhat identical in terms of style of play, both combine well with their midfield, and are able successfully hold up play. On the other hand Rémy is able to make the appropriate runs in front of Giroud when needed to, as already seen with France. He offers up a difficult stance for defenders, compared to that of Giroud or Benzema he is by far more challenging to mark.

Łukasz Fabiański signs for the Swans

Arsenal FA Cup Hero Łukasz Fabiański has signed a deal with Swansea FC. The Polish International is set to join the Swans as of next Month.

The question as to whether or not Fabiański will extend his contract for the Gunners as finally been answered. The work rate and talent of Vito Mannone and fellow Countryman Wojciech Szczęsny prevented Fabiański from cementing the Number 1 spot.

Having played a crucial role in Arsenal FA Cup success, 29 Year Old Fabiański has brought an end to his Arsenal career and rightly so. The transfer from Arsenal to Swansea is purly based on a footballing reason, one cannot blame or have bad feelings towards Fabiański's decision. The competition between he and Szczęsny was  healthy to a certain extent, heathly in the sense that Arsneal would have a wonderful back up to that of  Szczęsny, in case he picked up an injury, or if a rotation was needed  like that of the FA Cup.  And on that platform Fabiański showcased his worth.

On the other hand  playing  as a back to Szczęsny would have been immoral, reason being like Szczęsny he too is an outstanding keeper, a talent like his should not go to waste, it would have been ideal for Arsenal to have two first rate keepers. However both Fabiański and Szczęsny are Polish Internationals  one playing behind the other for the same club, would prevent the other from being Cap for their Country.

Speaking to the press Fabiański said "The main reason I came to Swansea was because I want to be the number one goalkeeper". I for one cannot and will not hold any bad grudges against that man who help to bring an end to the 9 Year Trophy drought. Swansea FC is a well respected club, which plays artful Football.

It has been a fraustrating seven Year 7 spell, troubled by injures although he wasn't able to take the Number 1 spot. Fabiański will be remembered for his contributions to this Year FA Cup. May 17th 2014 is a date that Arsenal fans will never forget. For that I would like to would like to wish Łukasz Fabiański all the best for the future.

THANK YOU Fabiański

Bernabéu valedictory for Benzema ?

According to The Telegraph Arsenal are preparing to make another move for their long term target Karim Benzema. Last summer transfer window saw the arrival of Mesut Özil, Arsène at the time tried to pen an agreement, for Benzema, but the departure of Gonzalo Higuain made it impossible for Real Madrid to sell. Benzema found his form back in November of this current season, Real are rumored to be keeping a watchful eye on the Premier League Player of the Year and Golden Boot winner Luis Suarez. Any deal between Arsenal and Madrid could be in the region of £30m. This would allow Real to make a bid solid bid for Suarez.

Arsène has been an admirer of Benzema for some time now, in previous interviews he has boldly given his thoughts on the star striker. which is unlike his character when it comes to monitoring a player Arsène usually remains tight lipped, whether that is out of respect for the player's club,or Arsène being smart and not wanting other big clubs to swoop and seal a deal, only he would know the answer to that. But a few years back Arsène went against his usual self, and gave us his view on the likelihood of bringing Benzema to the Emirates, stating that "Signing him does not seem impossible. He's a player that I like. He's intelligent in his movement, he is capable of combining well with others and making a difference, and of doing individual moves as well. So for me he's a player who's at the top level in the world".With the obvious need for a World class striker Arsène may feel that the time has come to finally close a deal on the inform and proven striker.

Real Madrid like Arsenal are yet to conclude their season. Both have two major finals to look forward to, Arsenal will be playing against Hull City in the FA Cup Final at Wembley this coming Saturday. whilst Real will be making preparations for their Champions League Final against arch rivals Atletico Madrid on the 24 of May. Any possible glimpse of re interest from Arsène for Benzema may come after both teams have played out their last game of season.

Benzema hasn't firmly cemented himself into the starting line up at Real. Reason being Real has excellent players which can be a good and bad thing for both players and the team as a whole. For the team it is great to have players of high quality, as it will drive other players into competing with each other which could possible bring out the best in a player. But sometimes a new manager may come in and have a different or specific style of play, so they may favor one player to another.

Take Jose Mourinho for example, at times it looked at if he favored Higuain as his first striker, who often played slightly ahead of Benzema. Now that doesn't indicate that Benzema isn't good enough to be a regular in the starting line up. For me situations like these are bound to happen when you have team that is filled with star players, don't get me wrong having marquee players is a wonderful advantage. However too many World class players could be damaging for any given player, not because they are no longer good. But  because there are too many excellence within the team, so it then becomes difficult for a player to be distinct or the main attraction, because their work rate may go unnoticed or overshadowed. Which brings us to whether a transfer to Arsenal would be a good move to Benzema. In my view I believe it could be, Essentially because Arsenal need a player of his capability, getting into the team isn't a question that needs to be asked. Not only is he guaranteed regular game time, but I believe a move to Arsenal will take his career to new heights. Yes he is still regarded as as World class striker, but the talk of him being classed as the best striker has been left unsaid for sometime now. Moving to Arsenal could put him up there as being one of the World's best strikers. Benzema has wonderful movement on the ball, similar to his French teammate Giroud he too is able to hold up play. Which is a joy watch when your team is about to break on counterattacks. One key quality that he brings to the game is that he has the understanding and connection, of being able to link up with his midfielders. Arsenal have a midfield that is bursting with a range of gifted players, the addition of Benzema would benefit all.

Could it be third time lucky for Arsène , I believe so. The arrival of former teammate Özil together  with fellow Countrymen Giroud and Sagna for the time being, could potentially be enough to tempt Benzema to the Emirates. I believe the signing of Özil is the blueprint of good things to come, not only did it prove to Arsène critics that he isn't shy of spending, It also illustrated that Arsenal is still regarded as a big club to the most exciting of players. The signing of Özil may not make it easier for us to sign big name players as many are assuming, but what it does is it demonstrate that Arsenal are now able to compete with the big clubs, and that like other well respected top clubs they too mean business.

On a good note Benzema has a year remaining on his contract, to me Real have not fully acknowledge his worth, like Özil I do not believe that he has been truly valued by previous managers. So perhaps he might feel that the time has come for him to make a change and challenge himself to something new. But as I said previously Benzema has found form since November, Ancelotti has given him more game time by which he has proven his valuation. It could be for this reason as to why they may decide to extend his contract, or if they are unable to reach an agreement with Premier League Runners Up Liverpool for Suarez.

Will Sánchez be a Summer signing ?

Could Alexis Sánchez be Arsenal's first summer signing, sources in Italy have indicated that a possible deal may be on the table, but the Gunners could also face a tight competition from Serie A Champions Juventus.

Over recent years Sánchez has been somewhat of a dark horse, although his talent doesn't need to be questioned, due to previous lack of game time he has been unable to demonstrate his worth, however this season he has been one of Barcelona's most prominent players. Under the management of Gerardo Martino he has recorded his best ever season in a Barcelona shirt.Which begs the question of asking will Barcelona be willing to sell such a serviceable talent.

The 25 Year old Chilean is an all round player who is capable of playing as a centre forward or on either side of the wing. Since his move to the Camp Nou he has been unable to establish himself as a regular to the starting line up. However so far this season he has made 53 appearance given the opportunity by new manager Martino. Sánchez has racked up a goal tally of 20 goals and counting. The lack of frequent starts and game time must  be frustrating for a player of his ability, having had such as formative season two teams are now looking to make their move.

Serie A Champions Juventus are reportedly planning to place a bid of £15m, Arsenal are also showing interest. In terms of finance the Gunners has the healthier financial stance, with their new Puma kit deal and a lusty transfer kitty, it is safe to say Juventus would be no competition IF Barcelona were to reject the £15m bid, Arsenal depending on how much they want Sánchez could table a bid of £20m. On the other hand any possible agreement between both club may come down to the player's personal agreement or choice, from his time spent with Udinese Sánchez has Serie A experience, he may personally feel as if he has some unfinished business for the side who gave him the most career caps.

Arsenal and Barcelona have both sold each other players in the past, the likes of Jon Toral ,Héctor Bellerín and Cesc Fàbregas made the transfer from Barcelona to Arsenal, whilst Thierry Henry, Marc Overmars Alexandre Hleb together with others made the switch to the Camp Nou. I like to believe that Barcelona owes us one, having bought back Fabregas back in 2011 when he was regarded as a Prince to the Arsenal fans. I think it is about time they return the favor.

A transfer to Arsenal would be a smart career move for Sánchez. Reason being is because Arsenal unlike Barcelona are in need of a proven striker, game time would not be an issue. The style of play between both Arsenal and Barcelona are fairly similar, both play one two football with quick slick passes, so adapting to the Arsenal team shouldn't be a challenge compared to the challenge that he might face if he were to move to Juventus.

The World Cup is less than a month away. Having recording his best ever season Sánchez is promising to make a name for himself in Brasil, being a utility player with experience on some of the highest level, The World Cup is known to inflate players price-tags, that may well be the case if Sánchez were to have a successful appearance, It is for this very reason as to why Arsène may decide to complete the deal beforehand. But the history of the World Cup is also known for bringing forth new, fresh and unexpected talents. So do not be surprised if Arsène doesn't make a solid move, like other managers he too will be on the look out for a proficient talent, one who may come in the form of a striker.

Serge Aurier to Arsenal ?

Could Serge Aurier be on his way to Arsenal, the prolong delay in regards to Sagna's contract extension looks like it has hit a dead end. With manager Arsène Wenger commenting on the situation as "That is not close to be closed. "I will have to accept it because only he can decide that now. If he goes we will accept it, we will accept it and respond." The long wait suggests that the French man may be on his way out of the Emirates this summer, With Aurier looking likely to be his replacement.

21 Year old Aurier is a highly rated Right Back in French Football, his talent has caught the eye of many of Europe's big club.

The potential departure of Bacary Sagna isn't a thought that sits well with me, I believe that we should do whatever it takes to keep hold of him, as he has a lot to offer the team both on and off the pitch. I often believed that Sagna would be a teacher to Jenkinson schooling him in the right way, so that when he is ready to retire or move onto another club, the change at Right Back is smooth and tidy.

I am a firm believer in if something isn't broken one must not fix it. Likewise the same goes for the Arsenal back four they have been rock solid this season, especially the partnership between Mertesacker and Koscielny the understanding between the two have been second to none, and a joy to watch. Lets not forget Gibbs and Sagna both of which have contributed well in most games. If for once our defense is exceeding all expectations and playing at their best, would it make sense to disrupt that, I think not. Overall the team are now moving in the right direction they are no longer classed as the "Young Gunners", who are prone to making sloppy mistakes, But instead they have plenty of experience and leadership on their sides. The likes of Chamberlain would benefit from having Sagna in the team, whether they play in the same position or not truly doesn't matter. It all comes down to being able to educate the younger players, so that they can shape their game, and erase the fear that they have in them, when it comes to facing up against the big clubs.

In a game between Manchester United and Arsenal Patrice Evra once said "It was 11 men against 11 children. We never doubted ourselves. We have much more experience and that's what made the difference". Now that our boys have grown into men, players like Sagna, Mertesacker and Rosicky offers up the experience that we previous lacked, as things current stand the defense is superb possibly one of the best in the Premier League. I believe that area should be left untouched, instead I believe we should focus on a position that urgently needs adjusting. Like for example Centre Forward, although Giroud has played well this season scoring over 20+ goals, it simply isn't good enough, Giroud would work wonders as a second striker playing behind a Centre Forward. One could only imagine what he could have done if he had the partnership of Robin Van Persie, what some have forgotten is that Giroud was initially brought in to play alongside RVP before he made the switch to United. Giroud I believe is a complementary striker if a top Centre Forward does arrive in the summer, I believe we will see the best of Giroud. If Sagna is to say goodbye to the Emirates I would like to wish him all the best of luck, even if he ends up at the Etihad.

In comparison to Aurier some may say Sagna is the safer and better option, reason being he has years of Premier league experience, he is familiar with the tempo of the league and has adapted well to it. Aurier on the other hand may have the slight advantage in terms of what he offers. As a utility player not only  can he defend at Right Back, but he is excellent at driving forward and putting in good crosses, at 5'ft9in he holds a remarkable aerial threat. Now the change from French League 1 side Tolouse to Arsenal is a great difference, so his talent may or may not be showcased in his first season. Take Ozil for example coming from La Liga to the English Premier League  got the better of him, although he started off well, midway through the season his game play became extremely sloppy. He isn't to be blamed though playing in La Liga his body had gotten use to having a winter break, the tempo that comes with the Premier league may not have been something that his body was physically prepared for.On the other hand I believe next season he will  be outstanding, not only will be retain the rights of being called the assist king, but he will also be in the run in for player of the year.

Remember when Arsène went on to making the signing of Koscielny, pundits all over believed that they too were football managers, and that Arsène insted should be signing Gary Cahill, with all respect to Cahill he does a tremendous job as a Centre Back. But ask any Arsenal fan about Koscielny and they will tell you that he is one of our best signing. Coming from FC Lorient in the French League 1 Koscielny didn't get off to the best of starts, I believe the fans got to witness his true potential from the 2012-13 season, since then he has continued to make improvements to his game, On arrival to Arsenal he was an underdog very few people knew much about him, however he is now regarded as one of the best Centre Back, that to me is an applaudable accomplishment. Similar to Koscielny if he is to sign for Arsenal Aurier will be coming from the league 1 in France. Playing as a Right Back is a  demanding job with the tempo of the Premier league he may not be able to hit the ground running with immediate affect. But with his utility at such a young age if he is able to stay focus and work hard, the mastermind of Arsène will empower him to become a great Right Back. With all his potential I do believe Aurier is an excellent successor for Sagna, he has already practice wearing the famous Red and White of Arsenal, come summer he just might be wearing our colours for good.

Arsenal make enquiry about Javi Martínez

The summer transfer window is only a few months away, but that has not stopped sources from making speculations.

In under two months the 2014 summer transfer window will officially open, one name that is already linked to Arsenal is Javi Martínez.

According to The Telegraph Arsenal have made an enquiry to Bayern Munich in regards to the possible sale of Martínez. Having only joined Munich back in 2012 Martínez still has 3 more years left on his contract, this would indicate that any possible agreement between Arsenal and Munich could cost in the region of £25m,for a player of his versatility I do believe that price tag is worth it.

After reading the reports from Germany, the sale of Martínez from Munich to Arsenal could happen. There are indications that the player isn't happy. Guardiola this season has played Martínez in an unfavourable position. "I don’t have as much freedom on the field anymore,” he said. “I don’t get forward as often and my game is a little more static. The coach [Guardiola] believes that I can play in any of the central positions and I’ll play where I’m needed.l". Having not been able to play in his rightful position, one that allows him showcase his talent, may be enough for him to call it a day and look elsewhere, perhaps at a club that would play him in his preferred position, a club that would value having his quality in their team.

What does Martínez offer? Years of  quality experience from both La Liga as well as the Bundesliga:

Athletic Bilbao
UEFA Europa League Runner- up 2011-12
Copa del Rey Runner- up 2008-09  2011-12
Supercopa de Espana Runner-up 2009

Bayern Munich
Bundesliga 2012-13  2013-14
DFB-Pokal 2012-13
UEFA Champions League 2012-13
UEFA Super Cup 2013
FIFA Club World Cup 2013

Let's not forget his experience at International level:

Spain
FIFA World Cup 2010
UEFA European Championship 2012
FIFA Confederation Cup Runner-up 2013

Spain U21
Spain U19
UEFA European under-19 Championship 2007

UEFA European under-21 Championship 2011

There is no doubt that the Arsenal midfield has a lot to offer, with players such as Ramsey,Cazorla  Özil and Wilshere all of which have what is it takes to torment any opposition, the potential addition of Martínez would be a complementary buy, bringing him into the team as a Defensive Midfielder would allow the partnership of Ramsey,Cazorla and Özil to flourish. With his years of experience from various levels I do believe he is player that we are or will be looking at, but that is one of the major problems with Arsenal we have a dreadful habit of time wasting when it comes to scouting players, as good as they may be, we tend to always be shy of closing a deal. Regardless of how beneficial a player may be to our team,in the past we have allowed bigger clubs to come along and beat us to the all important signature. It has happened with the likes of Mata and Hazard both of which went on to signing for London rivals  Chelsea FC. If we are serious about bringing home major titles to the Emirates, we must for once get these deals done and dusted, before we are left to play tug-of-war with the other clubs, when it comes down to that they unfortunately always win.

Del Bosque once compared Martínez to our legend Patrick Vieira calling him "a complete player"

If you are questioning whether or not Martínez is worth the buy, I must highlight to you that, in 2010 he was La Liga's breakthrough player of the Year, that surly illustrates that Martínez has something special to offer, past winners for this award were fellow Countrymen Carles Puyol, Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos. will Martínez be wearing the red and white of Arsenal next season, I sure do hope so.
